Scholarship Programs
The Sierrans for Responsible Resource Development (the "Sierrans") plans to establish a scholarship programs in secondary schools where scholarships are awarded to successful applicant students who take up careers in the resource industries. We plan work with individuals, corporations, and non-government associations to obtain funding for these scholarships. Scholarship awards are based on availability of funding and applicants meeting scholarship criteria for each scholarship that is awarded. Please help us fund these scholarship programs for the kids in the Sierra Nevadas striving for a career in the resource industries.
Primary and Secondary School Education Programs
The Sierrans plan to have or provide access to educational programs and work with teachers on both the primary and secondary school levels to educate students about the resource industries, the products produced by the resource industries, the history of the resource industries in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the benefits of the resource industries for society, and other applicable subjects that fit the educational criteria of each particular school and classroom. Teachers should contact us if they are interested in educating their students about the resource industries. Please help use fund these programs to educate both teachers and kids about the resource industries.
Community Education Programs
The Sierrans plan to have educational programs and do presentations and talks with various community groups that are interested in the resource industries or their history in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Please contact us if you are interested in having someone from our group do a presentation for your community group or organization. Please help us fund these programs to educate our community about the resource industries.
Historical and Cultural Preservation Programs
The Seirrans plan to work independently and with individuals, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations to preserve the history and culture of the resource industries in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. This can include restoration projects, preservation of historical artifacts, and other projects that are related to resource industries. Contact us if you think you have a project or you wish to participate in historical and cultural preservation projects. Please help us fund these programs to preserve both the history and culture brought to the Sierra Nevada Mountains by the resource industries.
Projects
The Sierrans plan to identify and work on special projects to support environmental conservation, reclamation, and other projects that benefit the community. We plan to work with individuals, corporations, and non-governmental organization to obtain funding for these projects on a case by case basis. We also look for grants to fund some or all of these projects. If you thing you have a project we should consider, or you wish to help with the projects we have, please contact us. Please help us fund these projects that are so important to our community.
Donate Time, Materials, Equipment
Its not just about giving money - though donations are most welcome. We are also looking for donations of individuals' or employees' time working on projects, materials donated and put to use on projects, and equipment and equipment operators donated and used on projects. All these things help in making the projects the Sierrans work on, and you support, successful. If you have time, materials, or equipment available to donate, let us know and we will try to incorporate them into our projects.
Donate to the Sierrans for Responsible Resource Development
You can donate directly to the Sierrans for Responsible Resource Development. Funds will be used for implementing the projects we take on and for general corporate overhead. Funds could be used for lobbying and political purposes. Note that the Sierrans for Responsible Resource Development is a 501(c)(4) non-profit organization and has the ability to do lobbying and political activities. Therefore, donations are not tax deductible as they would be to a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Donations may still be a business expense, if you are a business. Check with your tax adviser. Donate to the Sierrans for Responsible Resource Development Charitable Fund
The Sierrans for Responsible Resource Development has established the Sierrans for Responsible Resource Development Charitable Fund (Sierrans' Charitiable Fund) as an affiliated 501(c)(3) charitable organization. The Sierrans Charitable Fund does not use any funds for lobbying or political activity. It is established as a separate organization from the Sierrans for Responsible Resource Development with the ability to raise funds for community projects from government, foundations, private industry, other 501(c)(3) organizations. etc. and use those funds for charitable purposes.
Donations to the Sierrans' Charitable Fund are tax deductible - however you should contact your tax adviser for confirmation. If you wish to donate through the Sierrans' Charitable Fund, these funds will be used for projects the Sierrans takes on and for corporate overhead of the Sierrans's Charitable Fund. No funds will be used for political or lobbying activities.
