GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

The overall goals and objectives of the Sierrans for Responsible Resource Development (the "Sierrans") include, without limitation, the following:

(a)  Educate members and the public about the products produced by the natural resource industries and how they use and benefit from them in their everyday lives.

(b)  Educate members and the public about the existing and potential quality, high paying careers, direct and indirect business opportunities, economic diversity, and tax generation from the natural resource industries.

(c)  Educate youth, in whose hands rest the future development of our natural resources, about all aspects of the natural resource industries and their benefits and risks.

(d)  Educate members and the public about existing and proposed sustainable, socially, and environmentally responsible development projects or existing projects in the natural resource industries in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and their benefits.  Encourage the responsible and sustainable development of our natural resources.

(e)  Educate members, government, and the public about the need to preserve public and private access, ownership, and rights for development of natural resource lands in the Sierra Nevada Mountains for the benefit of society.  Oppose the unreasonable withdrawal of public lands from multiple uses.  Inform members and the public of existing and pending legislation that may affect them, their quality of life, or their constitutional rights.

(f)  Educate the members and the public about the clean-up of legacy resource industry sites and how resource industry companies can work with residents, businesses, government agencies, and special interest groups to clean up the Sierra Nevada Mountains.  Work to identify historic legacy resource industry sites in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and work with residents, businesses, government agencies, and special interest groups to obtain funding and clean-up of these sites.

(g)  Educate members and the public about modern, environmentally responsible operating practices and new technologies used by the resource industries.

(h)  Educate members and the public about the need for historical and cultural preservation related to natural resource industries in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Identify opportunities for historical and cultural preservation and work with residents, businesses, government agencies, and special interest groups to obtain funding for and complete preservation projects.

(i)  Educate members, government agencies and officials, and the public about the needs of the resource industries pertaining to the use and development of natural resources in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

(j)  Educate members, government, and the public about the need for a defined, streamlined, economically viable, politically viable, and legally viable permitting process under the California Environmental Quality Act; the need to modernize and streamline the regulatory processes for local, state, and federal individual permits; the need to eliminate constantly changing local, state, and federal regulations to promote stability and investment; and the need to eliminate or modify unnecessary, arbitrary, and capricious regulation in the resource industries in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
