MISSION STATEMENT

 

The Sierrans for Responsible Resource Development (the “Sierrans”) is a social welfare organization formed exclusively for educating residents, businesses, government agencies, and community about the benefits of responsible and sustainable resource industries in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

 

The resource industries shall include, but not be limited to:  surface metal mining, underground metal mining, quarrying, aggregate mining, small scale dredging, large scale dredging, forestry, agriculture, oil and gas, and recreation (e.g. hunting, fishing, etc.). Associated industries include power generation, industrial construction, manufacturing and other industries that supply major products to the resource industroes or are major consumer of the products made by the resource industries.  Also included in the resource industries are the many suppliers of goods and services that support the resource industries and, in turn, the resource industries support those businesses.  Virtually everything we use in life comes from the resource industries.

The above will be done within the meaning of 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 (as amended) or the corresponding provision of any future United States internal revenue law, including for such purposes, the making of distributions to organizations which are recognized as exempt from tax under such 501(c)(4).

The Corporation will exercise such rights, powers, duties, and authority of a nonprofit corporation organized under the Nonprofit Corporation Act of the State of California which are consistent with the preceding paragraph.

 

The Corporation shall not carry on a business with the general public in a manner similar to organizations which are operated for profit.  Further, the Corporation shall not operate primarily as a social club for the benefit, pleasure, or recreation of its members; although social functions for the benefit of members may be carried out if they are incidental to the Corporation's primary purposes.
