Cultural Preservation Projects
The resource industries played a major role in determining the historic and cultural identity of communities in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. This included impacts to the native population and immigration from all over the world to work in mining, agriculture, forestry, and other resource industries. In the 1970's, with increasing population, movement of people from urban to rural communities, and transformation to a service economy, the need has arisen to preserve the historical and cultural identity of many communities in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
